Reading Material for English and Literary Majors in The Digital Era
Abstract
Insights into the reading preferences and worldviews of current students enrolled in the English Language and Literature programme at Ataturk University are the objective of this research. Additionally, we are interested in determining how the internet and other alternative multimedia tools affect the development of readers. To optimise the data collection process concerning the reading patterns of contemporary college students, 76 individuals were selected in a random manner to participate in the survey. The survey was structured into six distinct categories: online activities, perusing behaviours, online reading material, reading habits, and strategies for cultivating reading habits online. The SPSS Statistics 20 application was utilised in the data analysis. After conducting an extensive inquiry to gain a thorough understanding of the reading patterns of college students, the researcher provided suggestions for promoting reading among this technologically advanced population.
